The deficit of state budget last year was higher than expected. Instead of 35.2 billion crowns (nearly 7 billion FF), it will reach approximately 45 billion, this increase was due primarily to overspending on social benefits. The exact figures will be released on Tuesday.

The Minister of Justice Pavel Rychetsky, asks the court to Prague to open a trial against former top Communist official, Karel Hoffmann. The latter is suspected of high treason on the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in 1968.
